Never See It The Same

Last night hubby and I took a bit of adventure by going on a fundraiser bus trip to the local casino. we would get casino money and free buffet voucher. We aren't much of gamblers so after about an hour we went to the buffet. I grabbed the salad bowl and started the buffet down the line, looking, thinking, protein, starch carbs, proteins..etc.. Didn't even look at the dessert line. I came out ok, some cottage cheese, some beans potato salad. spoonful's mind you. I had gone to a baby shower earlier where I had had some cheese and meatballs. I probably had too much because I could still feel my throat working, so I didn't really eat much. My hubby came back with several bowls of various things, (protein, poor guy I check his plates too) and I told him I would have been right there with you weeks ago, everything looks sooo good. Since I was eating slow, I started looking around the room at all the plates, at all the overweight people, and then this woman stood up with the use of a cane,(she was overweight) and she took her tray and when down the buffet line a second time with help from her cane and the first thing that came to mind was "That could have been me". And that thought scared me. I was surprised that the thought had popped in my head and much more that I still would think that, but that was the truth of it. If I had continued with my eating habits, and adding more medicines to for the growing health problems I was having and never blaming my eating habits, that would/could have been me. And then as we were going out, some of those same people were going over to the food court. where there was more food . Anyways, we went back into the casino and the bus wasn't scheduled to come in two hours so we jumped on a bus thinking it was going back to town, but when everyone started getting off the bus when it stopped a mile down the hill we just looked at each other. we got on the wrong bus, by that time we would have needed to get back to the casino to get on the original bus we were supposed to take. Luckily there where friends on the bus that gave us a ride to where our vehicle was parked> I don't mind going back to casino sometime, but it will be awhile before I go through a buffet line again. (free or not).

** Today, for our non-profit organization we have done 4 casino bus fundraisers with 2 more scheduled so far. Still get the free buffet tickets, still look for protein. I will hit the dessert trays. I work out 4-6 days a week, I figure I can work it off. But definitely not like I used too. And we ride the same bus back!
